It`s part of our lives. We use it daily and it is physically on our tables, especially at breakfast time. It’s something so daily, so normal, that it is hard to get used to the idea of doing without it. And yet, both Europeans and Americans spent much of history without being able to use sugar as a sweetener. Such an interesting story, with tragic edges, this plant changed the world. The most curious thing is that, after all, sugar is not essential. You can live perfectly without it, but we could also live without salt, and without spices, and those seasonings also changed the course of history. As you see: to small causes, great effects.
